TPC Southwind, part of the TPC Network (owned, operated and licensed by the PGA TOUR), has named Rob Akins as the club's newest golf instructor.

One of the nation's most respected golf instructors, Akins has been consistently ranked as a "Top 50 Teacher" by Golf Digest since 2001 and a "Top 100 Teacher" by Golf Magazine since 1999.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Rob to our team," said Burt Baine, general manager, TPC Southwind. "His experience for taking players to the next level and passion for teaching will truly create an impact here at TPC Southwind."

Throughout his 16-year career, Akins has mentored and taught a number of PGA TOUR players who in total, have amassed more than 15 TOUR victories, including two Major Championships and one U.S. Amateur Championship. Hailing from Shreveport, La., Akins has called Memphis home since 1989. Before joining TPC Southwind, Akins was the Director of Instruction at Spring Creek Ranch.

Located within the gated lifestyle community of Southwind in Southeast Memphis, TPC Southwind boasts a championship golf course - designed by architect Ron Prichard, with PGA TOUR players Hubert Green and Fuzzy Zoeller serving as consultants - which is home to the PGA TOUR's World Golf Championships-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Featuring numerous lakes, streams and ponds, the course offers five sets of tees, including a family-friendly option on each hole. In addition to the golf course, TPC Southwind members enjoy access to lighted tennis courts, a swimming pool and fitness center. The 33,000-square-foot clubhouse offers multiple banquet rooms for business needs, in addition to casual and fine dining options.
