Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Jeff Houston who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.
Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property Stonehenge golf course opened in 1984 and is designed by Joe Lee. Stonehenge has for many years voted one of Tennessee's best public courses you can play. We are ranked #3 in 2016 by Golf Magazine. We host 4 state events each year. The Tennessee Senior Open, Tennessee Father/Son, Tennessee Women's Open and Tennessee Challenge Cup Matches.
If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course? Stonehenge is a true championship course that offers bent grass tees, fairways and greens. Our signature hole is the number 14 hole that has a 95 foot drop from the tee to a green that sits by Lake Dartmoor. It is certainly the signature hole of the resort.
What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course? The length is not overwhelming at 6500 yards but hitting the fairways is a must so you have control of the distance for your shots into the green. Also, staying under the pin is a must when you are coming to our finishing holes.
Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course? Stonehenge was ranked #3 by Golf Magazine in the best courses you can play in 2016.
What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole? Hole #14 is our signature hole. It's a scenic par 3 with 95-foot elevated tee and yardages of 161 yards from the back tees.
What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It? Hole #15 is a 501 yard par five that plays from an elevated tee to a landing area beside Lake Dartmoor. The longer hitters can challenge the carry over the water to a reachable distance to get home in two. The shorter hitters will lay up for a true 3 shot par five. The last carry must be over a creek guarding the front of the green.
Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole? The nacho salad is the thing to have on the menu. You better have help.
